Project Lifesaver

Our first project is the implementaion of Project Lifesaver – a program that supplies bracelets to people who are at risk for wandering off. The bracelets include a tracking device so that the person can be rapidly found using a equipment installed at the local police station.

Middleborough has a diverse population, and the incidence of maladies like Autism and Alzheimers, Downs Syndrome, and other related diseases, and that one of the real problems is the tendency of people afflicted with these ailments is to wander and lose their way, FOMT has decided that it’s first project will be the implementation of PROJECT LIFESAVER in the Town

Our Fund-raiser: In order to implement Project Lifesaver we will be raising the appropriate monies. Donations may be made to The Future of Middleborough Trust. We also will be selling a 500 piece puzzle that will be made up of the photo in this order form and brochure. The photo was taken at the time of the Dedication of the Middleborough Veterans Memorial Park in May of 2005. The puzzle will be available for a cost of $15.00.

This is an example of what Project Lifesaver has done:

Dear Project Lifesaver,
My name is Brad Trahan, Founder and Executive Director of the RT Autism AwarenessFoundation, Inc. in Rochester MN. More importantly, I’m also the father of a son withsevere autism. Reece is now 8-years old and was diagnosed five years ago. Reece isnon-verbal and like many of our individuals with autism, very vulnerable and needs con-stant supervision.

Through our foundation, we were able to implement Project Lifesaver in Olmsted County,MN in April 2007. We are very passionate and serious about Project Lifesaver simply because we believe in the product and it clearly saves lives.

This past July 2008, I asked our local Project Lifesaver Team to consider a real-life train- Project Lifesaver Transmitter Bracelet ing exercise, call-out, so that if there were any bugs to be worked out, there was no better time to work them out in a training exercise than an actual call-out.

I took Reece 1/3 of a mile from our residence, in thick woods, near a very small creek in the early morning. I stayed with Reece the whole time. My wife called the local dispatch to initiate the training exercise. Facts are this; from the time Project Lifesaver Team 1, which consisted of only two people, left our law enforcement center to find Reece was only 25- minutes. From the time they hit our residence until they found Reece was 9-minutes. Project Lifesaver Team 2, which consisted of only one person, same results.

I was sold on Project Lifesaver BEFORE this training exercise and now I am absolutely CONVINCED by Project Lifesaver after what I saw first-hand!

Its NOT the cost, its the return. I look forward to pursuing Legislation in the State of Min- nesota, in February 2009 to bring Project Lifesaver’s availability to the 87 counties that make up our great state! We have tools and technology out there to save lives to those with special needs who may wander. Let’s put those tools to great use not tomorrow, but today! It could save your loved one!

Regards,
Brad Trahan
